Counsellor, Mentor, Educator

I hold qualifications in Counselling and Health Science (Alcohol and Drug Studies) and have worked across diverse settings—schools, justice residences, and as a caseworker in the community with whānau. This breadth of experience has shaped my understanding of the complex challenges young people face.

My approach? Real talk, genuine care, and practical action. I naturally see strengths in all clients and work to help young people believe in themselves. My counselling practice draws from several modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and motivational interviewing. I believe in a holistic approach that recognises the vital importance of positive relationships and whānau support.

Most importantly, it's the relationship that matters. I build this through strong communication and advocacy when needed. My connections with others in the field—legal teams, corrections staff, and community organisations—have opened doors and created opportunities for the young people I work with many times over.

Our indigenous ancestors held deep knowledge of the stars, using this wisdom of star alignment, to navigate their world. This powerful system guided them to new horizons.
I work with young people to align what matters, find new horizons, and remember that even on cloudy nights, there are guiding stars present.

Thank you heaps for yesterday (advocacy at court).. appreciate you more than you know.
